It takes a lot of confidence to be this ridiculous.
My friend Emilyne Mondo organised a dinner at Soho House this weekend. It was a dinner like no other. Eight carefully chosen individuals, sat in candlelight and over fine wine and great food, philosophised and pondered over our lives and our times.
At the end of the night, I drew the ‘short straw’ (Kind of. Technically. Thanks Yrsa.) and was entrusted with the brown case of wisdom. I will pass through the next Top Table Dinner and hand it over to the next ‘chosen one’. I know this all sounds a bit Harry Potter meets Lord of the Rings but I enjoy few things more than being in good company and discussing the important things.
Here are some beautiful nuggets of wisdom from the end of the night that I’ve had the pleasure of reading, owning, digesting, keeping:
‘Choose wisdom over riches.’
‘You can be a king without a crown. You can be a queen without a crown. You are a child of the universe.’
‘Truth is a beauty, whether pretty or not.’
‘All of man’s problems stem from the inability to sit quietly in a room. Try to sit quietly in a room once in a while.’
