It takes a lot of confidence to be this ridiculous.
I had an amazing time on stage last night at Rich Mix. The talent showcased was phenomenal… really. From fellow poets Caleb Femi and Yomi ‘GReeds’ Sode, to singer-songwriter Savannah Dumetz, whose voice was STUNNING and Akoma Ntoso – a band who blew me away so much I plan to collaborate with them in the future – to visual artists Adama Jalloh (a good friend of mine), Olivia Twist (member of SXWKS collective), and Heidi Sincuba (who happens to be the organiser of Makeba) the atmosphere in the room was electrifying. DJ Sid Mercutio provided the soundtrack for the night and Soweto Kinch was also in the house. Our host, Ola The Comedian added comedy to the proceedings.
I look forward to the next instalment. What an awesome way to kick off the next leg of my Black History Month Tour. My next stop will be Brunel again for their ‘Pretty For A Black Girl’ event, at which I’m the special guest and will be delivering the night’s keynote speech as well as performing some poetry.
